Things worth checking on a Nissan Qashqai

• Service history and stamps that match the recorded mileage
• A smooth gear change, especially on automatic (CVT) versions
• On diesels, how the car is driven — lots of short trips can affect the diesel particulate filter
• Wear on tyres and brakes for the car's age
• Warning lights on the dashboard after the engine starts

Questions to ask the seller

• "Is there any finance still owed on the car?"
• "Has it ever been in an accident or an insurance claim?"
• "Was it imported, and if so, from where?"
• "Can I see the service history and the latest NCT certificate?"
• "Can I see the logbook, and does the name match yours?"
